Deliciously rich and fruit driven. This wine has aromatic layers of black berry, red plum and tobacco on the nose. Cherry and dried fruit makes for an elegant finish. Subtle tannins add to the wine's character. A wine with great ageing potential.
100% Merlot, matured in second fill French oak for 9 months. It is carefully sculpted, with strong black fruit and tobacco spice accents.
Ideal with ribs, red meat, lamb and duck. Gouda, Brie and Gorgonzola makes the perfect pairing.
In The Vineyard
The Merlot grapes have been hand picked from high density vineyards. We use the six wire trellising system and meticulous viticulture practices like bunch halving and intense canopy management is standard practice.
About The Harvest
Harvest takes place in the early hours of morning into small lugs. The vineyard is 14 years of age and yields at an average 6 tons per hectare.
In The Cellar
Only the finest hand selected grapes are spontaneous fermented in French oak cask after "carbonic maceration". For the maturation and spontaneous malolactic fermentation we used second fill French oak barrels of 300 liters each. Resulting in wines with deep structure and firmer, finer grained tannins, ideal for ageing purposes.
An explosion of ripe tropical fruit aromas on the nose. A crisp and fresh pallet with hints of pear flavours. The natural fermentation gives it a layered fruit dimension that ends in a fresh juicy finish. Food Suggestions This wine...
